MERRY CHRISTMAS

Hi!

I found this picture on the internet.
Merry Christmas Everyone!

Little update on me:

- I managed to keep last year's promise: no negative stuff on the blog.
- I also did a great job in life, thinking positive as much as I was able, and I improved a lot.
- I believe I reached the next step on the Road and it feels good :) New goals, new tasks, new knowledge awaiting.

WHAT'S GOING ON?

Hello people!

Long time not been here.
Let's see what was going on with me:

My job is good, got pay rise after 3 months, very good.

My old bicycle had serious damage in the rear wheel. After approx 15000 km no wonder it happened. I bought a new one and replaced the freewheel and it was excellent, but then the speed control broke down... plastic. Okay, good bye old bike, I bought a new one :)

Scooter's break light was not working, but I fixed that too. Chinese workers can hide connections and cables pretty good :D

I also built a kneeling stool. No more back pain, no more hurt neck.

I used to snore like an animal. Mostly when I'm too tired. I can stop it when I program my mind not to snore, but most of time I don't because I'm lazy to do that. So I bought something, and no more snoring :D Snoreeze oral device. I highly recommend to those who have a chance to buy it. Was 35 GBP.

Finished a StarWars book from Timothy Zahn... Choices of One. Excellent novel. Never get disappointed with this great writer.

Everything is fantastic. Life is beautiful :)

LITTLE WIND AND A BROKEN WHEEL

London had a small windstorm, some broken trees and walls, but nothing really serious in our area. I had to push my bicycle half way to the workplace because the rear wheel gave up :D That was funny... and it started to rain :D

BEDFRAME

I finished my latest carpentry project: a bedframe with a huuuge storage space. (195 x 142 x 45) cm.
Took me 1 day to make it. Cutting timber, building the frames, and painting.
The result is great, just what we needed. More space in the bedroom, more space all over the flat.

(Who's idea? Of course it was Dewi's idea :D)

Made a 2.5m x 3.5m colorful carpet.

2.
Finished the Squirrel Maze.
Painted 3x to be able to survive rain.
Will be in the garden very soon.
Photo will be available about final product later this week.

3.
Remotely fixed a computer that had .lnk extension problem.

4.
Bought a new bed mattress with pillows - memory foam.
Hope it will stop back pains in the morning :P

GPU reflow :))

Neighbour's HP Pavilion G6 laptop gave up...
First the fan, than the gpu.
The notorious faulty screen, than pitch black.
And because the gpu is soldered to the motherboard, the only way to resurrect it, was a heatgun :P
So I took it apart, cut the right size of aluminium foil (10 layers approx.) and heated up for 7-8 min.
It worked.
Wonder how long will it last?...

END OF AUGUST

Wow, this summer was extra nice :)
Sunny and warm for 2 months.
That's rare in England.

Okay, today we did some tree-chopping in the garden.
The place looks brighter.

Hopefully the birds won't mind the new look :D

I also finished my new furniture.
It is a combination of wardrobe, hanger, storage shelf, shoe-box, sofa and umbrella holder :)

AUGUST IS HERE

Today I found 3 folding chair in perfect condition.
People throw away many good stuff.

Floor laying course will finish this week. Last exam tomorrow.

I got 2 projects in my mind.
I want to build a swing and a shed for the garden.
Already collected some materials for them, but still need more.

I started updating the "Positive thinking" page.
Since I last posted it, I see things a tiny bit different.
I'm getting closer to the big picture :)

Here is a picture about me ... zombie-style :) Muhahaa!

HARDWORK

Hey!
We started the big job today with the floor laying team.
Find out more (with photos) on my 'Floor Laying' page :D

I love this summer... hot and not only 2 weeks :))))

...26th of July 2013 - Update: We finished!

UPDATE ON FLOOR LAYING 2

I finished my practical exams this week.
Crap quality phone made photos are available to see under the "floor laying" page.

Next week we start our project in the college. Got 1 week to finish the job. That building was quite hot when we first visited for the measurements. I have a bad feeling about it now - no air conditioning when outside is 25˙C. And we have to wear safety boots and long working trousers :D Well that's okay because I gained a couple extra kilos that will probably gone by the end of next week :D And finally I will get my first on-site experiences.

SUNNY SUMMER

Yesss, the real summer is happening and everybody enjoys it.

We spending lot of relaxing time in the garden, we have been boating on the lake, and finally we can forget about the grey clouds for a while :D

I finished the CSCS test 100% on Friday. Now I can go on construction sites and have a serious practice in floor laying.
More test coming but at least this one is behind me now.

GOOD TO KNOW - TATTOOS

(source: Popular Science, Dr. Anne Laumann)

Tattoo:
- injecting ink with a needle into the second layer of the skin.
- white blood cells will attack the ink and take it into the bloodstream, so it can get carried out of the body.
- but the pigments are too big and cannot be eaten up by white blood cells. So they remain there with the new color.
- there are 3 ways to remove tattoos: burning out, cutting out, laser treatment.
- to remove a tattoo, laser is the safest and most effective way but also expensive and time consuming.
- the laser breaks up the pigments so they get smaller and the white blood cells can destroy them. This treatment is also not 100% guarantee because there is a chance for skin discoloration, especially when the tattoo is made with many different colors.
- so if u see a chance that u could regret a tattoo later, better don't go for it.

ABOUT BLOGGING

I started blogging because I wanted to share my feelings, my stories, my ideas, etc. It was meant for my friends and my family, so they all can see what is going on with me. No need to write emails, check Facebook or other social networks. Here it is, bookmark my blog and you find all the necessary info about me.

But.
I learned that I could earn money with blogging.
So I inserted some Google Ads into my site and waited for the money to come.
Stupid!
I was not interested too much anyway and nothing has happened.
Soon I just removed those ads from the sitebecause they did not look good and nobody clicked on them.
Yepp... because nobody checked my blog.

3 years passed and I posted a lot. Page-views jumped to 4000.
Which is nothing.
So I decided to upgrade my blog site a little.
Searching the web for ideas, I learned couple things.
But I still don't know how to make a lot of money with blogger.

Anyway: Here is 1 important thing I would like to share.
The best when the blog is focused only on 1 topic.

My blog is about hundred different things. That might be the reason that Google search engine does not find my blog important.

I was thinking about creating more pages with focused contents. Let's see if that will help increasing page-views.

(later: Did not help much. So probably it's better to blog about one thing only.)

FLOOR LAYING

This is the 5th week I started on the floor layer course.
I learned a lot already.
For a nice job I have to practice a lot, repeating the same tasks until it goes smooth and quick.
Here are some photos (made with phone) about works I have done with the team so far.
Not perfect, but after 4 weeks starting from zero, it's quite good :)

MY CINEMA PROJECT

Yes, yes, the big screen is finally done.
2.5m x 1.5m ----  widescreen :D
Tonight we will watch the football final on it.
Garden Cinema.
Buuuhahahaaa!

(we did not watch the game because it was too sunny outside,
but later at 10pm we watched a movie with popcorn :)

Great result, however the screen could be double size :D

INVESTIGATING A THEFT

Some idiot stole the front light from my bicycle. But not only the light, also the piece for fitting it on the handle bar. And for that the thief had to use a screwdriver. So I managed to get a chance to look at the CCTV camera and it seems that we found the guy who did it. I asked for a copy of the recording and I hope I will get it next week. I want to catch that guy.

I got the projector yesterday. Now I have a cinema in my bedroom :)) It's sooo good. Giant screen on the wall. Just have to buy popcorn.

BIG CHALLENGE - SCOOTER REPAIR

I had a hard time this weekend trying to fix the brake pipe for our scooter. Still not finished. Dirty oil stuck under my fingernails. I have to find out tomorrow if a seller on ebay has a similar pipe to what I need.

I was also gardening on Saturday. Cutting grass, weeding, making the place nicer. The strawberries are growing again.

The floor laying course continues. In 3 days I learned a lot. But is a bit too fast and too much new information to process. Good thing is that I really like it.

I got lucky with a projector on ebay. I was random checking during break and I found a barely used projector with 30 min left of bidding.
I won :D
This week it should arrive.
Than I will make home cinema in the bedroom :))

I refreshed the PHOTO page and the FOOD page.
And the SCOOTER page too.
Have a look.

My next project will be something for the wall, holding the projector. I am also thinking to fix the wall in the garden. Level it and paint it white. On a warm summer night we can watch movies there with the projector. And football :)
.
.
.
Wooowww! I just saw how big the screen can be. Covering half of the garden. Like in a real cinema! Tomorrow I go get a cable so i can try with the laptop. If the picture will be sharp enough than it's gonna be a great summer :D

LEARNING SOMETHING EVERY DAY

Starting a 12 week course for floor-laying.
Going for NVQ Lvl-2 certificate.

Doing also the online Cisco Networking and Webdesign courses.
Not getting bored for sure.

Have to fix scooter again. The brake fluid is leaking and have to change the whole rear brake pipe. Checked on eBay, ... nothing.
So I'm going to remove it and see if I could "macgyver" the problem.

Just came home from a job interview which was actually a training how to be prepared and how to make the good impression on an interview. Was very helpful doing it in real situation, better than researching on the internet.

Weather sucks again in London. Hope that the last year will not repeat itself = 2 hot weeks in the summer, the rest was crap.

Will soon redesign the page, it has to look more pro and more serious. Depends how much time I will have.

A LITTLE BIT OF NEWS

After 3 days my addiction for Angry Birds burned out :)

I did some voluntary work in a library.
Bought book shelves in IKEA and helped to assemble them.

Weather is rainy, cannot even go for jogging.

Almost finished the book I read.
There's gonna be some extra for the positive thinking page.

Squirrels keep coming to eat. Little furballs.

Not much going on. All quiet down here :)

Oh yes, 1 new thing I learned:
How to clean the "semi-rimmed framed" eyeglasses.
Because dirt can go under the thread and that leaves a black line around the lenses. I found a very handy video on 'youtube' that helped me in this. It actually uses a flat plastic ribbon - used for giftboxes, flowers, etc - by slipping it through the small space between the lens and the thread. Than grabbing the two ends of the ribbon lift out the thread from the gap which is engraved around the lens. Very easy and safe way to clean :)

ENJOYING ANGRY BIRDS ...

Enjoying (or addicted to) the game for mobile phone, Angry Birds.
That is what I did today...
I know it's already old, but I never played before.
Now I understand why so popular :)

There is this level I can't get through...

Everything else is O.K.
Life is getting more exciting.
Today with this, for example:

BEAUTIFUL WEATHER

Today it was warm, lot of sunshine and a general goodfeel!
Wonderful!

What have I done?
I went out first time of this year in a short and in a t-shirt.

I went for jogging.
I had to stop for a break after 5 minutes...
Oh boy, have to get used to this again.

Enjoy the sunshine!

POSITIVE THINKING PAGE UPDATED!

Yes, finally a little extra on positive thinking.
I am reading a book - every day a little bit.
And every time I find something new to learn.

Baird T. Spalding: Life and Teachings of the Masters of the far East

I did not write too much about this book.
Only a bit of summary
Which is not enough to cover all the information.

The point is that I like it very much.
Now I can combine positive thinking and believing in God much easier than before.

This book helps a lot in seeing the connections and understanding life as it is.

I also extended the list and more will come.
If you have some free time and haven't seen any of my favorites, try them.
There must be something you like.

HOW TO CHANGE BLACKBERRY CURVE 9300 TRACKPAD AND SCREEN COVER

It was hard to do anything lately on our mobile phone: Blackberry 9300 because the trackpad was not working properly. The cursor was jumping up and down doesn't matter what we did.
From an earlier (first time) repair the screen was also damaged and looked ugly because I lifted up on the wrong edge.

But why buying a new phone or bring it to service when I can fix it myself?
Everybody can.
And that cost only £10.
Order the trackpad and the screen protector from eBay and replace them.
How?

HOW TO BUILD A ROLLING TABLE FOR THE BED

I remember a project that I did before.
I go and find the photos, so I can post it on my Carpentry page.

It's about a long rolling table for a king size bed.
Perfectly suitable as laptop desk, breakfast table or doing homework in bed :D

HOW TO BUILD A LAPTOP DESK - PART 2

Hi.
I found some more leftover MDF boards so I pimped the laptop desk a bit.
.
.
- I fixed the issue with the speakers. They moved too much when the frame was not in a horizontal position. Now it's been taken care of.
- Covered the empty bottom part. Now I really can store more stuff underneath the laptop.
- Added 2 breaking points to hold the computer in the same position preventing it from sliding away.

THE CELESTINE PROPHECY (by James Redfield)

A new extension on the "Positive Thinking" page.

I read a book from James Redfield: The Celestine Prophecy.

I read it 4 years ago. Long time.
I made some notes, so now it was easier to refresh my memories about this book.

HOW TO BUILD A PORTABLE LAPTOP DESK

I updated the "Carpenty" page.

It is about a wooden frame to hold laptop and store some peripherals underneath.
If you like the idea, feel free to copy!
I hope I'm giving a good solution for laptop owners.

Main reason I made it is the cooling.
But as it developed it serves now much more than just that.

HOW TO COOL COMPAL iFL90 NOTEBOOK

Please take a look at the photos on the "Laptop Repair" page.
I just finished updating it and more coming :)

You will find my way to avoid overheating without paying a lot for new technology.
I also uploaded some pictures about the Compal iFL90 laptop after dis-assembly.
Enjoy!

SAFETY ON THE AIRPLANES

Probably some of you have seen the story on Yahoo's website about safety on the airplanes.

For me it was all new.
I bet there is much more to discover, but for starter this is pretty awakening.

It was very interesting and worth to read.
I can't show the link because I can't find it any more.
But I try to summarize what was it all about.

Most of us - passengers - don't pay attention when the stewardess explains instructions for emergency. They actually don't talk about details that would draw our attention. That is for sure.
But if they would, maybe we would be a bit scared for flying.

1. Safety on airplanes - oxygen masks
Put it on straight as it falls in front of you before you pass out. In that height the outside pressure will suck out all oxygen from the aircraft if there is a hole breach. Then you will have maybe half minute or less to breath. So better take care of yourself firs, than you can help your neighbor.

2. Safety on airplanes - cover your head
When you look carefully at the safety card, you will notice the proper position to cover your head. If you are right handed, than cover your right hand with your left (while protecting your head at the same time). If something hits you there, later you will still have your better hand unharmed.

There was much more to learn but I don't want to steal all the story.
I bet it is very easy to find even more interesting stuff on the Internet about safety on the airplain.

Take care!

KARRIMOR SNOW BOOTS

Before anybody would get the idea that recently I got an advertising-syndrome, it's a big NO!

Anyway, Dewi usually got cold feet, cold hands
She drives her scooter every day to work, and the cold wind freezes her to bones.
I want to give some ideas to those women who are experiencing the same "pain".

Here is  how Dewi survives on the motorcycle in -2 °C :)

We found ski-trousers so effective, that she don't even want to use the blanket on the scooter any more. No matter if raining or wind blows.

It was a bit harder to find the proper boots for a low price, but Karrimor's snow boot works excellent for her. Here is what she got for just under £30 in SportsDirect. Dunno yet how is it in heavy rainy conditions, hopefully perfect :)

Proper gloves? Haven't found yet.

GOPRO HERO3

Hey, you want something cool?
Check this out.

A great camera for a cheap price.
I also want it :)

ZNEN CHINESE SCOOTER

We have a Znen Sport Scooter from DirectBikes. Oh yes we do :)

Model No - DB125T-26.

And it is still ok and running after 4000 km.
I know, I know. Most people say: "Don't buy DirectBikes, that will break."
I'm not trying to advertise them, but we have no problem with the scooter.
The reason I say this, because I couldn't find info on many forums about this model.
So for those lucky scooter drivers who got the same scooter, let me tell about our experiences.

1. It came in 1 peace. We did not have to assemble it. The only job was to screw up the top box for the back and later the number plate.

2. Not sure why, but our scooter's throttle twistgrip is not very smooth when speeding up. There is a little gap (dead zone) between speeds. But the 125cc 4-strokes engine is quite powerful.

3. In 5 days we use £4 for fuel (unleaded) --> £15-20/month. And this is good. We save a £100 on the public transportation every month.

4. After 1 year of regular use, the front light bulb gave up. It was a bit tricky to figure out how to remove the front panel to be able to fix the light. Too bad there was now manual handbook with the purchase. But if you like to DIY (do it yourself) = save money on service, than it is fun.

5. Changing engine speed: Be careful when you adjust the throttle cable at the carburetor end. The locking nut and everything else there is made from aluminium - not steel. If you not careful you can damage the thread of the bolt and that sucks.

6. Today I noticed that the air filter housing was loose. Probably from the shaking a small piece of metal broke off on the bottom of the housing, that supposed to keep it tight with the body. Thanks to my habit, not to throw away my junk, I found a similar piece of metal and fixed it.

So all I'm saying is that these scooters are not as bad as so many people "advertise" them. If you take care just a little bit, it will give you a service for a couple years or maybe more. I guess that is worth £800.
